Recruitment Check List as it is All Greek To Me

Recruitment Check List

You MUST register with your college Panhellenic Association (this is mandatory) to participate in rush/recruitment. Registration with BVPAA does not register you at your college.
  • Check with your college or university Panhellenic to be aware of deadlines.  Ask what materials/information you need to submit (pictures, transcripts, fees, social resume, etc.)
  • You may contact them by phone, email or mail.  Most colleges send all incoming freshmen/transfers information about Greek life.  But don't worry if you don't receive it right away. There are always delays with preparation of this information.  Just have your personal information ready to go!
  • Gather photographs or slides of yourself. (These do not have to be professional portraits. Candid pictures are fine. Head shots are preferred. It is recommended the picture is only of you.)
  • Register with BVPAA via our email address: brazosvalleygreeks@gmail.com
  • The sooner you get this done, the better. We suggest you register by the end of May.
  • Write your social resume.  Include school and social activities, offices and honors, athletic participation, volunteer work, familial Greek affiliations and anything else that may be of interest. The purpose of this social resume is to introduce you to the members of the organization.
  • Request a copy of your Transcripts from high school if required by your college Panhellenic. Normally this can be a photocopy.
  • Start networking. Inform your friends and family of your intent to participate in the membership recruitment process. Don’t be afraid to ask friends to write letters on your behalf. Ask every woman you or your mom knows if she is a member of a sorority and if she will sponsor (the alumna member who authors your reference) or write a letter of recommendation for you.
If you do not know the person writing your reference, she may ask you to hand deliver the information so she can talk with you for a few minutes to be able to write a more personal reference. Write your sponsor’s name, address, and phone number on the envelope for her sorority as a reminder of who you will take your packet of information to. You should also write a thank you letter to the sponsor after you have delivered the packet of information to her.
Include in your packet:
  • Letter of introduction with request for writing letter
  • Social resume (see example in the forms section)
  • Photocopy of transcript
  • Several pictures (include a full length & head shot). Write your name, high school, and home town on the back of the pictures.
Pictures are sent to chapters so they can recognize you when you visit their house. Make sure the picture looks like you (no glamour shots).  Pictures do not have to be taken by a professional but no pets or other people in the photo. And make sure the picture is in focus.
